I Can See the Chemistry!

Overheard in a store:
two young women said hi to each other. One looked at the other's baby in the carriage and said,
"Oy! He is REALLY cute! And he Mamish looks like your older daughter! I really see the chemistry!"

I am not sure if the problem is that:
1. when they first heard the expression they weren't paying attention to the way it was said, and subsequently every time they use it, it is incorrect,.
2. they have no idea what chemistry is or means
3. they are like a lot of people in this neighborhood who don't know how to use the English language properly.

YBS could give them lessons. And he has been in camp, so no good conversations with him. When he is home he sleeps.

that is funny!

I could see why she thought that way, since chemistry in the science sense is about combining things to make a new substance. So the baby was sorta "chemically created" from the mother.

My mother, lulei demistafina, says that when someone comes back from a date saying there was a lack of chemistry, what's usually missing is biology.

Ever read the letters to the editor in the community connections? Apparently they don't edit the letters at all.

I read one yesterday, (at gunpoint) and found the english to be more appalling than anything I have ever seen...

Monsey scares me lately.

Well the word "chemistry" used in this way is just slang - so technically you could twist it around to mean whatever you want it to mean.

I can see "chemistry" also meaning similar features, mannerisms, among siblings.
